Autumn
Sowing
Seeds you can sow this month include winter salads such as rocket, mizuna, mustard ‘Red Frills’ or ‘Green Wave’, as well as pak choy, claytonia, tatsoi, and corn salad.
In spaces that will be unused over the winter months, you could grow a green manure to improve your soil for next season!
Planting
If you have plug plants or seedlings ready to go, it’s not too late to plant lettuce, scallions, turnips, annual spinach, or spring cabbage.
Harvesting
In September, you can harvest your ealy carrots, beetroot, dwarf French beans, cabbage, calabrese, cauliflower, courgettes, marrow, kohlrabi, lettuce, scallions, peas, early potatoes, radis, spinach and turnips.
Collect fruit as soon as it is ripe to avoid wasps feeding on the split fruit.
